Success stories

Supermarket REIT.

Supermarket REIT chose Osprey to deliver five high-power hubs totalling 58 ultra-rapid chargers, at its large supermarkets across England.

Supermarket REIT Success Story

Following the success of an initial roll out with Supermarket REIT, which delivered 58 charge points across five locations in less than a year, further sites are now in development. Supermarket REIT's portfolio of large supermarkets offers an ideal environment to charge whilst shopping, and Osprey have a track record of high-quality hub installations in these types of car park. Osprey covered all costs associated with installing the rapid charge points and now operates them to the highest quality of customer service.

In less than a year, the five hubs were built and opened to customers, enhancing the EV charging network across the UK particularly in areas where public EV charging is currently sparse. The hubs meet growing consumer demand for rapid charging infrastructure, bringing a reliable service to millions of customers in a convenient location.

Supermarket REIT's large portfolio of major supermarkets such as Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi, and B&M neatly fits the dwell time of rapid charging.

The supermarkets below now host reliable, rapid Osprey charge points capable of providing up to 300kW, which delivers a charge of between 15-45 minutes depending on the car and its battery.

  • Workington, Cumbria (Morrisons) – 16 chargers
  • Wisbech, Cambridgeshire (Morrisons) – six chargers
  • Leicester, Leicestershire (Tesco Extra) – 12 chargers
  • Bradley Stoke, Gloucestershire (Tesco Extra) – 16 chargers
  • Basingstoke, Hampshire (Tesco) – eight chargers

Sustainability is a key part of our strategy and so we are delighted to announce this partnership between SUPR and Osprey. Supermarkets are an ideal location for EV charging, with shoppers able to charge while they pick up their groceries. These developments are enhancing the sustainability credentials of assets and helping to drive footfall to the stores.

Robert Abraham, Managing Director, Supermarkets at Atrato Group.

Osprey has partnered with Supermarket REIT to create a charging experience that is both convenient and enjoyable for supermarket customers. Osprey charge points are intuitive and easy to use accepting all major contactless payment types, alongside the Osprey app and payments through all major third-party EV services including fleet cards.

The supermarket charging hubs are equipped with the latest technology that distributes the power required by vehicles based on their actual needs in real time, additionally ensuring that none of the available power is wasted and more ultra-rapid chargers can be installed.

The presence of Osprey ultra-rapid charging hubs both future-proofs and differentiates these supermarket locations from their competitors, improving EV charging offerings for local communities as well as bringing both fleet and private drivers into the stores.

The first year of our roll-out with Supermarket Income REIT demonstrates the success of this important partnership and the excellent opportunity available to commercial landlords: to future-proof their assets, support important sustainability goals, and provide retail customers with the high-quality EV charging they will come to expect. The Chineham Tesco & Shopping Park hub is the fifth result of a positive collaboration we look forward to continuing just as strongly in the year ahead.
