The December numbers are in, concluding 2022 as a huge growth year for electric vehicles and the EV industry as a whole. In the midst of shrinking car sales, electric vehicles have been established as a strong growth market. EV uptake continues to accelerate and strong growth in the UK charging is expected in 2023 to cater to this increased demand.

• This is the second year running that more fully electric vehicles (BEVs) have been sold than diesel cars.
• Compared to 2021, diesel is down 66%, petrol down 21%, but fully electric vehicles up 40%.
• In 2022 fully electric vehicles accounted for 22.9% of all new car registrations, over 3x the number of diesels.
