Consumer charge point regulations.
In November, the United Kingdom's Department for Transport (DfT) implemented the first of the UK Charge Point Regulations – the Pricing Metric – to enhance the consumer experience and bolster confidence in the public charging network.
This series of regulations applies to public charge points with a power of 8kW and above, aiming to establish a robust and user-friendly charging infrastructure across the country. At Osprey, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of meeting these regulations and elevating the standard for EV charging in the UK.
What metrics make up the UK Charge Point Regulations?
99% Reliability.
At Osprey, reliability isn't just a standard; it's a commitment. Throughout 2023, our network has consistently operated at above 99% reliability, meeting and surpassing the stringent regulation criteria.
Contactless Payment.
Seamlessness in customer transactions is a priority. All Osprey charge points come equipped with contactless card readers, ensuring ease and convenience for our customers from the outset.
24/7 Helpline.
Customer support is the backbone of our service. Osprey has maintained a 24/7 staffed telephone helpline, freely accessible to customers. This information is prominently displayed on every charge point, providing immediate assistance whenever needed.
Open Data.
Transparency is key. Osprey adheres to the Open Charge Point Interface as a standard, allowing accurate and open access to essential data for governmental bodies, Distribution Network Operators, and Electricity System Operators.
Roaming.
Osprey is a pioneer in enabling easy access for consumers to pay via multiple roaming providers. With an open and collaborative approach, we have established partnerships with several major providers, making Osprey one of the most accessible and open networks.
Pricing Metric.
Osprey sets a precedent by embracing the Pricing Metric regulation. The cost of charging with Osprey is always transparently displayed in pence-per-kilowatt-hour (kWh) on the charger screen, Osprey App, and website.
While the Pricing Metric is now enforceable, Osprey has already proactively met the complete set of regulations outlined. With high driver trust and a commitment to excellence, Osprey continues to be at the forefront of the evolving EV charging landscape.
As the charging network sector continues to evolve, Osprey remains steadfast in its commitment to meeting and exceeding regulatory standards while continuing to deliver an exceptional charging experience for all EV drivers. Our dedication to compliance reflects our ongoing promise to foster trust and reliability within the rapidly expanding EV community.
