Osprey announces price change.

Osprey Charging Network will be rolling out a price increase starting from 25 July. Our price per-kWh will be 66p/kWh for all customers and payment types. The new price will be introduced as follows:

  • Customers who use bank card will start seeing the new price from 25 July onwards, as it is rolled out across our charging points. This will be completed by 2 August.
  • Osprey Account customers will see the new price applied to charging sessions made from 2 August.
  • For up-to-date roaming prices please check the provider website.

Why have we increased our price?

The price we pay for the supply of electricity through our charge points has tripled this year. In the last month alone, it has increased by more than 50%.

When there is a significant change such as this in the cost of running the network, we have to review and adjust our pricing to allow us to continue to operate.

We realise this comes at a difficult time when other costs are rising. We are actively lobbying the government, together with some of our charging network peers, to get the VAT rate for public charging reduced from 20% to 5% to match the home tariff.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

The price we as a business customer pay for the supply of electricity through our charge points has tripled this year and continues to rise. You can see a graph of the industry cost in pounds per megawatt-hour over time above.

Both electricity and petrol/diesel prices per unit of fuel have risen significantly in the first half of 2022. Whilst the situation continues to change and therefore calculations quickly become outdated, all recent cost-per-mile direct comparisons still put electric vehicles as considerably cheaper to fuel and run.
