Myth buster: Can an EV drive through water?

We want to bust some myths that we’ve been hearing to set the record straight about owning an EV. First up is “Can an EV drive through water?”

As we all know, water and electricity do not mix, however, in the case of an electric vehicle, unless the car is submerged in water, electric cars are perfectly safe to drive through puddles, floods and in the rain as the battery cells are well-sealed to prevent any water entry. If flooding did occur, the circuit breakers will trip which would then shut off the power. Therefore, having the same harmless outcome as if a fuel-powered car had been flooded.
